Lawn Care – using moldy hay as lawn fertilizer

http://www.richsoil.com/lawn-care.jsp

Take moldy hay and tear it up into chunks. Then sprinkle the chunks onto the lawn before mowing. Then mow it in. Simple!

The hay will add nutrients, organic matter and make it so you don’t need to water as often.

This may be the very best fertilizer for a lawn. I’ve been able to get hundreds of bales of moldy hay for free!

What is the best lawn fertilizer?

I have a postage size lot in a trailer park. The front was basically killed when the park cut down a tree in my yard and left all the saw dust. I tried to rake a lot of it out but I pretty much smothered my grass.I water but it’s just not doing any good. Should I put a fertilizer on it? I’ve even thought of scrapping it and just doing some landscape there. Any suggestions would be awesome and thanks a lot!

WeedAndFeed, and chicken manure work wonders on dying lawns, but use sparingly- too much will burn off any new or damaged growth. You could also try sprinkling new lawn seeds onto the existing patch to help grow a thicker lawn. Depends how much time you have, but it will eventually grow back. Hope this helps :)

Will lime kill Parvo in the yard and what will it do to the grass will it help with fleas and ticks?

My puppy is currently in the vets being treated for Parvo the house has been bleached but i have a three acre lawn will lime shorten the parvo lifespan, will help with fleas and ticks?

No, you should bleach the lawn. Bleach is the only thing that can kill Parvo and even then it isn’t guaranteed to be completely gone.

how do i kill lawn fungus?

on my front lawn there are patches of white fungus. also, there are some on my flowers in the garden. there seems to be some mushrooms around it. i went to lowes and the home depot and they didn’t have anything for it. is there something i could use to kill this fungus. thanks

A photo would be helpful here, the "patches of white fungus" are separate from the "mushrooms" that are growing nearby. Most mushrooms form a fungal associations with plant roots that are helpful to the plants, so the mushrooms that are growing nearby are likely doing good things for your garden. However, the organism responsible for the "white patches" would need to be identified…
